Sinfonia TZ-10 Ball Bearing Mounted Tooth Clutch is an electromagnetic tooth clutch belonging to the TZ Series by Sinfonia Technology (Japan). Designed with a Ball Bearing Attachment Type structure, it allows the transmission of high torque within a compact size, ensuring precise connection, zero-slip, and stable operation in industrial drive systems.
Key Highlights of Sinfonia TZ-10
- Extremely High Torque Capacity for Size: Thanks to the mechanical tooth engagement mechanism instead of flat friction, the clutch transmits torque several times higher than friction disc clutches of the same size.
- Zero-Slip Precision Transmission: Ensures 100% rotational angle synchronization between the driving and driven shafts once engaged.
- Easy Installation via Integrated Bearing: The stator coil is fixed via a built-in bearing, eliminating the need for complex concentric alignment when mounting to the machine frame.
- Rapid Disconnection: The return spring system ensures the teeth separate completely as soon as power is cut, preventing residual friction or heat generation.
- Japanese Industrial Standard Durability: Teeth are machined from high-strength alloy steel with high wear resistance, meeting continuous switching frequencies.
Practical Applications
Sinfonia TZ-10 is specialized for heavy-duty machinery systems requiring high precision and zero torque slip:
- Winders & Unwinders: Packaging, paper, steel sheet, and plastic film industries.
- Packaging Lines & Industrial Conveyors: Segmented drive cutting/connection in automated packaging systems.
- Mechanical Processing & Punching Machines: Indexing drive, precise stop/shaft connection control.
- Textile & Printing Industries: Speed synchronization between roll batches and drive rollers.
User Manual
1. Check Shaft and Keyway: Preparation.
Clean the drive shaft and clutch bore. Machine the keyway according to TZ-10 parameters to ensure optimal power transmission.
2. Mount Clutch on Shaft: Mechanical Assembly.
Push the clutch into shaft position. Use a Torque Arm to fix the stator housing to prevent the coil from rotating with the shaft. Note: The torque arm must have a small free play; do not over-tighten as it will bind the bearing.
3. Apply 24VDC Power: Electrical Connection.
Connect wires from the magnetic coil to the 24VDC power source (use a dedicated power supply or relay with a flyback diode circuit to protect the coil).
4. Check Gap and Test Run: Operation.
Power on for no-load test, check tooth engagement sound (a crisp "click") and ensure teeth completely separate without touching when power is cut.
Important Technical & Maintenance Notes:
- Do Not Engage at High Speed Differential: Tooth Clutches should only be engaged when both shafts are stationary or have a very small speed difference (below 50–100 rpm). Engaging at high speed differential will cause chipping/wear of the teeth.
- Protect Stator Bearing: The torque arm used to hold the stator housing only serves to prevent rotation; absolutely no radial or axial forced load should be applied to this bearing.
- Operating Environment: Avoid excessive grease or lubricating oil on the tooth faces, which reduces clean separation, and prevent metal dust from entering the magnetic gap.
Sinfonia TZ-10 Ball Bearing Mounted Tooth Clutch is a high-quality electromagnetic transmission solution, notable for its 100 Nm torque transmission capability, zero-slip tooth clutch mechanism, fast switching, and superior durability. With an integrated bearing design, compact size, and ability to work in both dry and oil-submerged environments, the TZ-10 is a reliable choice for automation systems and industrial machinery requiring high precision, stability, and long service life.
